ABOUT SONGS AND MUSIC AS A MEANS OF PRESERVING CULTURAL DIVERSITY AND IDENTITY

The songs were mostly sung in the local language of the people we worked with. Some of them have even been recorded in languages that are threatened with extinction, and with it the identity and knowledge of their speakers, so this song project also contributes a little to preserving these cultural elements. And sometimes it's not the language but the instruments, the style of music or the original culture from which the music comes that are threatened. Some songs are bilingual, and in some cases the music changed from traditional to modern or vice versa over the course of a song. This often conveys a deeper message that goes beyond the pure text content. And the impulse, the desire to shape the music this way and no other, always came from the groups themselves.
